I also appreciate the comparison between different cities. Staying in the Rotterdam area for a few days instead of going back and forth from Amsterdam for a week, sounds smart and doable. I do know that I'm trying to do a lot in limited time, but I don't know when I'll be able to visit the Netherlands again, so making sure I got the main sights is important. If you visit both that would be some zig-zagging I think. Rotterdam could serve as a stop on the way to Belgium, but so could Maastricht. Or you may want to sleep in the quirky, 45 degree tilted Cube Houses: StayOkay Rotterdam offers hostel beds and private rooms there.ĭuring big events (Rotterdam marathon, North Sea Jazz and such) the hotels in the whole city are at least twice as expensive so choose your date wisely. Hotel New York is really beautiful (pricey though). In the same street is “A Small Hotel” which are actually apartments. Should you want to combine The Hague and Rotterdam in 2 days with an overnight stay I can recommend some hotels in Rotterdam Bazar has a fantastic breakfast and is in the coolest street of the city, noisy on weekend nights though. The Hague has some very bleak parts but in the center you can find posh old streets. It can be a nice contrast with Amsterdam. ![]() Rotterdam was bombed and the center rebuilt in not the prettiest way although cool modern architecture was added later. You say you like pretty cities in Rotterdam and The Hague you will need to plan well. I like it, it has some very old history dating all the way back to the Roman empire. Maastricht has quite a different vibe in my opinion. So a specific museum might be a deciding factor between the other ones. Obviously Groningen is much farther away. I think you are asking which of the list of cities to add to the 3 you’re already planning on.įor me, Utrecht, Leiden, Delft, Haarlem, and Groningen have more or less the same look and feel. ![]() I don’t think people were reading your initial question right.
